Electric Bike

San Francisco’s Mission Motorcycles announced production of its all-electric bike called the “Mission R”. This production motorbike will be based on the winning all-electric Mission RS bike that won the 2011 TTGXP Laguna Seca race.

Created to challenge any bike on the road, the Mission R is powered by a 120 kW (160 hp) electric motor tied into Mission’s proprietary Infinite Drive power train. The coupling of these two systems gives the Mission R the juice it need to accelerate from 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h). The Mission R is armed with a 17 kWh lithium-ion battery that gives the bike a 140 mile (225 km) range.
But the Mission R is not just unique for what it has, it’s also impressive for what it lacks. According to Mission, “Devoid of pistons, crankshaft, clutch, and other mechanical parts rotating at thousands of rounds per minute, the Mission R creates a new dynamic in handling and control… Without the inertial forces created by hundreds of heavy spinning engine parts, the Mission R drops into corners like no other motorcycle.”

In addition to its stunning mechanics the Mission R is also equipped with a state of the art instrument cluster that’s accessible from the bikes touch screen user interface. Capable of handling Bluetooth devices, turn-by turn navigation and all other types of communication, the Mission R truly sets itself apart from other bikes.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on one, Mission Motorcycles is offering the Mission R at the bargain rate of $29,999. The catch? You’ll have to wait until mid to late 2014 to get your hands on this high-tech, green machine.
